Jean H. Pope

Jean H. Pope of Kingston, NH died February 14, 2026. She was born in Haverhill, MA on August 26, 1923, the daughter of Harry H. and Lillian B. Haselton.

She grew up in Bradford and Haverhill, MA, graduating from Haverhill High School and then worked as a secretary until 1947 when she married Lyman B. Pope, Sr.

Throughout her life Jean enjoyed swimming, boating, snow skiing and horseback riding, competing successfully as a young rider. She and her husband traveled extensively including trips around the Mediterranean, the Middle East and Europe. They took their sons on summer trips throughout the United States and enjoyed vacationing in Arizona.

Jean had many friends, young and old, and was always a source of kind counsel and support.

She is survived by her two sons, Stephen R. Pope and his wife Heidi McClurkin Pope of Weare, NH and Alan E. Pope of Kingston, NH and several grandchildren, Jordan Pope of Kingston, NH, Kendall Pope Weidenfeld of Bedford, NH and Elizabeth Pope Silvestri of Cambridge, MA and three great granddaughters, Kaita Grace and Hope Eleanor Silvestri and Novalee Weidenfeld. She was predeceased by her husband Lyman B. Pope Sr. in 1998 and her son Don A. Pope in 2014.

The funeral will be held at The Christ Church of Exeter on 43 Pine Street February 21, 2026 at 10:30 AM. A private burial service will be held immediately following the church service. Brewitt Funeral Home, Exeter, NH is handling the arrangements.
