Jean Ann Rhoten, 71, of Newark, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by the love of her family, on Saturday, July 12, 2025. She was born in Centralia, Pennsylvania on May 2, 1954, to the late Charles and Grace (Towey) Hoskie. A parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Jean Ann was a homemaker by heart and enjoyed collecting Swarovski crystals, rearranging her curio cabinet displays and decorating her home. Raising her family was her greatest pride and joy in life. She'll be remembered always for her infectious laugh and fun sense of humor. She took great enjoyment in watching her favorite television sitcoms, rom-com movies, and cherished the times catching up in conversation with those she loved. She enjoyed fishing, camping, music, dancing and having a good time with family and friends. She will be greatly missed by her daughters, Nicole "Nikki" (Brad) Erb, Stacie (Daniel) Kindt, and Teresa "Terri" Fertig (Jennifer Waldrop Colangelo), and their father, Robert Fertig; 2 grandchildren, Ethan and Emily Erb; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Jean Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Rhoten; daughter, Denise "Nisey" Fertig; and siblings, Edward "Ed" Hoskie and Mary Ellen Hoskie. A private celebration of life will be hosted by the family with Chaplain Brian Humphreys as celebrant. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Jean Ann's name be made to ASPCA or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
