Jean Rickerman Obituary
Jean Rickerman, 98, a lifelong resident of Galien Township, died peacefully of natural causes at West Woods of Bridgman, on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. Jean was born July 6, 1926, in Niles to the late Benjamin and Dora (Yaw) Sheeley. She was the 13th of 15 children and the last living sibling.
Jean married Harold William Rickerman in Glendora on July 31, 1948, and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2008. He preceded her in death in 2009.
She enjoyed bowling, watching sports and loved being around animals. She was a member of Galien River Church, formerly, Olive Branch United Methodist Church, her entire life.
Jean is survived by a son, Tom (Ann) Rickerman of Baroda, granddaughter, Audrey (John) Whitten, great-grandchildren: Ellis and Lydia; a daughter, Margo (Bob) DePue of Galien, grandsons: Todd and Brent DePue and great-grandson, Lance.
Visitation will be Monday, April 28, at Hoven Funeral Home, 414 E. Front St., Buchanan, at 3 p.m. followed by a celebration of life eternal service at 4 p.m. with Pastor Bob Mensinger of New Troy Brethren Church officiating. A private burial will take place in Galien Township Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Galien River Church, 2289 Olive Branch Road, Galien, MI 49113.

Dear cousins, sorry to hear about the passing of your dear mother and Aunt Jean. There was a lot of love between the Sheeley siblings and that legacy carries on today even in my own family with my 11 children.. we last spoke to aunt Jean at aunt Lila`s funeral. I have fond memories of your mother since I was a little kid hanging out at the Truhn farm. God bless you with a truckload of good memories of your mother and father. They would want nothing more than for you both to embrace one another in love.

I remember Jean. She was so proud to have lived in Galien and had a road named after the Rickerman family. She told me several of the Road in Galien were named after family members. She was also happy to be near Eldie at Brentwood of Niles. God is celebrating her reunion in heaven!

Margo, I knew we were related thru our grandparents but never realized Jean was your Mother!
I know you must be comforted knowing her lifelong faith in her Lord and she is now after a long life rejoicing with her Lord!
