Dorothy "Jean" Nichols Strickland
1922 – 2025
Dorothy "Jean" Nichols Strickland, 102, of
Panama City, FL, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 23, 2025. Jean was a woman of deep faith who cherished the Lord, her family, her church, her community, and her country.
Born on December 25, 1922, in Los Angeles, California, Jean was the eighth of ten children to Lemuel and Nora Nichols. She grew up in the Los Angeles area and graduated from Franklin High School. During World War II, Jean proudly served her country in the United States Coast Guard.
While serving in the USCG, Jean met and married the love of her life, H. Lee Strickland. Together they built a life filled with devotion as husband and wife, raising their family with love and care. Later in life, Jean found great joy in her roles as grandmother and great-grandmother.
Jean's calling to serve the Lord was evident in every aspect of her life. She loved The Rock Church, which was her spiritual home, and dedicated herself to helping others. Tireless, strong, and loving, Jean made it her mission to improve the lives of those around her. For more than fifteen years, she devoted herself to delivering Meals-on-Wheels and spiritual enlightenment to elderly members of the Panama City community.
