Mrs. Sutton died Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at Overton County Health & Rehab Center.
Jean was a devout Catholic, a passionate reader, a loving wife, a devoted mother to her five sons, and a dedicated caregiver to her own mother, who lived with her for over 25 years. Her faith guided her throughout life, and she was a beloved member of Espiritu Santo Church in Safety Harbor, Florida, and St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Cookeville, Tennessee. Jean worked as a bookkeeper for an interior design shop for many years, with her final occupation as a bookkeeper for a beloved niece’s Catholic Ministry Group in Clearwater, Florida.
Born May 26, 1933 in East Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Jean graduated from East Pittsburgh High School, where she was a spirited cheerleader, active in student plays, and an integral part of student government. Her youthful energy and commitment to others carried into every stage of her life. Jean’s warmth and kindness touched everyone she met. She was a pure soul, deeply loved by many. Yet within her gentle heart lived a fiery spirit that burned bright. Among her many gifts, we will forever cherish the love and devotion she poured into every family meal and baked good she prepared. Cooking for her loved ones brought her immense joy, and she was never happier than when surrounded by her family. In both life and death, we will remember our mom’s loving nature, her generous heart, and her unwavering dedication to those she loved.
She was preceded in death by parents, Willis Louis and Julia Krohe Simon; her husband of 50 years, William Robert Sutton; sister, Eileen Borellis and husband William Borellis; brother, Willis Harold Simon and wife Johnnette; sister, Lois Pavlick and husband George Pavlick; and by a grandson, Matthew Sutton.
She is survived by her sons, Robert Kirk Sutton, Keith Louis Sutton and wife Beth, Kirk William Sutton and wife Lisa, William Kevin Sutton and wife Colleen, and Mark David Sutton and wife Brenda, grandchildren, Sara, and Tara, Lindsay and Caitlin, Lauren and Luke, Taylor, William, Alysa and Jacob, and McKenzie and Madison; and by nine great grandchildren.
