Jean Evelyn Vannoy, 90, formerly of Herrin, IL, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at her son's home surrounded by her family.
Jean worked as an LPN and retired from Herrin Hospital.
She was born on February 28, 1935 in Hillview, IL to John W. and Minnie E. (Baze) Grayson.
Jean was united in marriage with Rev. James W. Vannoy on March 2, 1952 in Wood River, IL. He preceded her in death on February 25, 2004.
She is survived by her sons, Rev. James "Danny" Vannoy of Evansville, IN, Rev. Rodney & Elizabeth Vannoy of Nashville, TN, Tim Vannoy of Snowflake, AZ, and Paul & Debbie Vannoy of Nashville, IL; 27 grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband, grandson, Nathan Vannoy; 3 sisters, Joan Pafaff, Fern Riggins, and Helen Lawrence; and brother, Edgar W. Grayson.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 15, 2025 at Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Mann officiating. Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Herrin City Cemetery in Herrin, IL. Memorial donations may be made to the Purpose House Church, 124 Lou Ann Drive, Herrin, IL 62948; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
