Turner Jenness Family Funeral Home - MilfordWinifred Jeane Tatman, 95, of Ankeny, formerly of Milford, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 11, 2025, at MercyOne Hospital in Des Moines.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at First Lutheran Church in West Okoboji, Iowa. Visitation, fellowship and refreshments with the family will take place at 10 AM at the church for an hour prior to the service.
Jeane was born on November 30, 1929, to Carl and Verda (Hunter) Swenson in Graettinger, Iowa. She graduated from Milford High School. During her high school years, she met the love of her life, Ellsworth Tatman. They were married on July 11, 1948.
Other than a brief employment as a telephone operator, Jeane’s career was spent helping Ellsworth manage the family farm and raise their family. She enjoyed sewing, doing crafts, playing cards, dancing, attending the grandchildren’s activities, and spending winters during retirement in Gold Canyon, Arizona. She will be remembered as a kind and loving mother, grandmother, and friend.
Jeane is survived by a daughter Jana (Randy) Bruns; a son Kip (Mary) Tatman; her grandchildren, Michael Tatman, Bret (Candance) Tatman, Anne (Dane) Barner, Brian (Liz) Bruns, Josh (Krista) Beekmann, Jennifer (Bob) Foley, and Alex (Jenna) Tatman; her great-grandchildren, Jack Barner, Ben Barner, Grace Barner, Lily Beekmann, Logan Beekmann, Lauren Beekmann, Vivian Tatman, Vada Tatman, Calvin Tatman, Quinn Bruns and Brooks Bruns; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellsworth Tatman; her son, Craig Tatman; her daughter-in-law, Sue Tatman; and her granddaughter, Christine Bruns.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for a future contribution.
