Jeanette “Jeanne” Garner Boyer, 75, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 1st, at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City, officiated by her lifelong friend Jerold Wingate. The family will receive friends following the service.
Jeanne was born on January 31, 1950, in Morehead City, North Carolina, to the late Johnnie Pershing “J.P.” Garner and Jessie Willis Garner. She grew up in Newport and was a proud graduate of West Carteret High School.
She began her career in 1981 at MCAS Cherry Point, working in the Civilian Personnel Department until 2005. She then transferred to the NOAA Research Laboratory on Pivers Island in Beaufort, NC, where she continued her career until retiring in 2011. Upon retiring, Jeanne devoted herself fully to her greatest roles—those of wife, mother, and grandmother.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures: reading a good book, relaxing by the pool, birdwatching, and cooking Sunday dinners and holiday meals for her family and friends. Above all, her greatest joy in later years came from becoming “Great-Grandma Jeanne” to Ella Caroline, who filled her heart with boundless light and laughter.
Those left to cherish her memory include her devoted husband, Kenneth Boyer, of the home; daughters, Kimberly Fasulo of Newport and Melissa Adams and husband Mark of Newport; stepdaughter, Deborah Brannon and husband Scott of Jacksonville; stepson, Curtis Boyer of Jacksonville; sister, Sue Hall of Harkers Island; grandchildren, Madison Adams, Jessica “Jessi” Fasulo, John Ross Fasulo, Christopher Adams, and Christian “CJ” Ward; her cherished great-granddaughter, Ella Caroline Adams; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephew. Jeanne also held close her extended Willis Farm Family, who shared in so many special memories throughout her life.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie Pershing “J.P.” Garner and Jessie Willis Garner.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made in Jeanne’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Flowers are welcome
