Jeanette Jo (Henson) Buse was born on February 5, 1945, in Estherville, Iowa, and passed away peacefully in Des Moines, Iowa, on February 22, 2026, at the age of 81. A graduate of Lake City High School in 1963, Jeanette married her beloved husband, Gilbert Buse, on April 12, 1964.
They devoted their lives to their family and community, living in Sac City, Iowa, for 23 years until Gib's death in 1986. She moved to Des Moines, Pomeroy, and finally Rockwell City, Iowa. In Rockwell City, she found great joy in her role as an Associate Teacher at the Rockwell City SCC School District, where she dedicated herself to nurturing young minds from 1999 until her retirement in 2018. Teaching was more than just a job for her; it was a passion that brought her immense happiness.
After retiring, Jeanette moved to Adel, Iowa, to be closer to her children. There, she cherished her time babysitting her two youngest grandchildren for five years, filling their lives with love and joy. She loved traveling with her children and grandchildren during this special time, creating memories that will last a lifetime. In the past few years, she especially enjoyed spending time with her family, tending to her garden, and canning vegetables, embracing the simple pleasures of life. Jeanette was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose kindness and spirit touched everyone around her. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her cherished mother, MaryEllen Henson; her beloved husband, Gilbert Buse; and her siblings. She leaves behind her children, Jerry Buse, Teresa Buse (Art Steinbrenner), Stuart Buse (Christina), and Steven Buse; and her grandchildren, Dakota and Jesse Buse; Mason, Maegan, and Peiten Steinbrenner; Kody, Caleb, Emerie, and Elizabeth Buse; and Carter Buse, and great grandchildren, Elise Buse, who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering strength will continue to guide those who loved her. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy lives on in the family she cherished and the many lives she touched. We will carry her love forward every day.
Jeanette’s faith was a steady foundation in her life. We take comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of her Lord and joyfully reunited with those who have gone before her. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Her love, guided by faith, will continue to shine through the family she so deeply cherished.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026, at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home ( 735 S. 14th St., Adel) from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., with a funeral service to follow. Memorial contributions can be made to Hope Ministries.
