Jeanette Cervone (née Battista), aged 98, of Hiawatha, Iowa, passed away on October 2, 2025. Born on January 31, 1927, in Richmond Hills, Queens, she was the daughter of Giuseppe Joseph Battista and Vita Domenica Montrone Battista. Jeanette spent her entire life as a devoted homemaker, deeply involved in her family, community, and church. On October 31, 1948, Jeanette married Harmon Cervone, who predeceased her on Oct 13, 1995. Jeanette was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Church in Poughkeepsie, where she was active in the Holy Trinity Women's Society. Her commitment to her faith and community was also reflected in her participation in the Dutchess Garden Study Club, where she shared her love for gardening with friends and fellow members. Jeanette also loved the flowers that she grew, had an intense passion for nature, along with a deep empathy for all living creatures. Jeanette was stricken with polio in September 1955 resulting in the paralysis of her left leg. Afterwards, she was determined to be more active than most, raised and guided her children, and always projected a happy positive outlook. Jeanette is survived by her children, Michael A. Cervone and his wife Ann Marie of Pearl River, NY; David J. Cervone and his wife Nicole of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and daughter, Elizabeth A. Cervone of Poughkeepsie, NY. She was a cherished grandmother to four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Jeanette was preceded in death by her siblings, Daniel Battista, William Battista, Anthony Battista, and Rose Battista Garitta. Jeanette's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family and her community, leaving behind a legacy of love and service that will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. The funeral services will be held at Holy Trinity Church, 775 Main Street, Poughkeepsie, on October 14, 2025, at 10 am. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery Poughkeepsie, New York. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dutchess County SPCA or Hudson Valley Hospice. Arrangements are under the care of Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Poughkeepsie, New York.
