Services for Jeanette Lancaster will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Hilliard Funeral Home, with visitation starting at 2 p.m. Dr. Shelby Davidson will officiate the service with Victor Davidson assisting. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Fairway Garden of Memories in Van; grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Agnes Jeanette Irwin Lancaster was born March 25, 1926 in Rusk County. She had been a resident of Van since 1964, previously living in Athens. She owned the City Cafe in Van for many years in the 60's, and also worked several years at the Chaparral and Athens Ceramics. She was a Baptist by faith and known for her great cooking. She was a wonderful homemaker and Nanny; she helped take care of all of her grandchildren, quitting work when the first one was born.
Mrs. Lancaster passed away at the age of 99 on June 14, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Lancaster (1990); siblings, John Irwin, Troy Irwin, Wilma Grindle, Robert Irwin, Travis Irwin, Mary Grindle, Horace Irwin, and Doris Flanagan; and son-in-law, Robert Bailiff.
Survivors include her four children, Dena Rogers of Van, Pat Bailiff of Van, Brenda Peebles and husband, Tim, of Tyler, and Ronnie Lancaster and wife, Kathy, of Pruitt; grandchildren, Michael Rogers, Mitch Rogers, Ginger Sims, Mike Richards, Michelle Richards, Clay Lancaster, Nicole Gregory, Jaclyn Pointer, and Sara Mays; eighteen great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
