It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jeanette B. (Rhodes) Phaneuf, who departed this life on January 10, 2025, in Worcester, MA. Born in Belchertown, MA, in 1935, she remained a lifelong devoted resident of her birthplace. Jeanette's life journey, rich with warmth and compassion, is remembered fondly by her family and community.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Lawrence and Donella (Martin) Rhodes. She leaves behind her cherished husband of 71 years, Roger Phaneuf, who shared with her a remarkable bond of love and partnership in Belchertown. Her legacy is also carried on by her children, Roger "Kim" Phaneuf and his wife Susan of Belchertown and Lynn Forgette and her husband Edward, also of Belchertown as well as grandchildren, Liam, Caitlin, Dana, Garrett, Alex and Tim.
A proud graduate of Belchertown High School, Jeanette dedicated over three decades of her life to the community as a secretary in the Guidance office of her alma mater. Her dedication to the educational upbringing of many reflected her generous spirit and commitment to serving others.
Jeanette embodied kindness and generosity in her everyday life. She was an enthusiastic gardener, loved preserving vegetables, and was an avid bird watcher. Her passion extended to crossword puzzles, revealing her sharp mind and love for words. Her home was a sanctuary for stray animals and wayward souls alike, often opening its doors to those in need.
The services celebrating Jeanette's life will be private and held at the convenience of her family, respecting their wishes. Those wishing to honor her memory may do so through donations to the Belchertown Senior Center.

Roger, Lynn, Kim - I loved her so very much!!! I do not know how I would have gone through my teenage, motherhood, young adult, or life without her. She was truly my guardian angel on earth and was heaven sent!!! Thank you all for open your hearts and lives to us wayward souls!

To Roger,Lynn and Kim,
We are very sorry to hear of Jean's passing. I worked with Jean at BHS and she was nice and helpful to me when I was new. She definitely cared about the students. We also enjoyed several laughs together.
Rest in peace Jean.

Ideally everyone´s passing should be met by the words that came out of my mouth upon hearing that "Jean" had died, " Oh, noooooo." Then I realized that was selfish of me and that she is in the ultimate Paradise! Dear family, take comfort and believe you shall someday be reunited. She lives on in all of you great kids and grandkids she was so lucky to have! Roger, praying especially for you. I was lucky enough to kniw Jean through my childhoofpd friend, her niece, Terri Phaneuf Allman, as a townie, and through working with her at BHS,nowhere she was always the perfect demeanor for students and faculty alike! A very supportive and caring person. Thank you God for her in my life and that of others. Til we meet again,
Christine (/Gould) Harper
