Jeanette R. Vrahnos, age 84, of Mount Prospect IL, passed away on November 11th, 2024.
She is survived by her loving children, Andrea Vrahnos (Glenn) Vanco and Kevin (Tracey Owen) Vrahnos. Her memory will be celebrated by her grandchildren, Tyler Vanco and Aiden Owen-Vrahnos.
Jeanette was a hardworking, caring, loving, and faithful woman. Not only did she work in the family insurance business for more than 45 years, but she was also an active member of St. Emily's Catholic Church and St. Isaac Jogues Church, where she volunteered in various roles and served as a Eucharistic Minister.
Jeanette had a passion for sports, enthusiastically and faithfully rooting for all the classic Chicago home teams: The Cubs, Bulls, Blackhawks, and Bears. Her caretaker and friend of 4 years, Carmen, would enjoy watching these games with her as well as Wheel of Fortune and Price is Right. She had an exceptionally big heart for hockey, cheering on her son (as a player and a coach), grandsons, and son-in-law at thousands of games and tournaments.
She enjoyed playing cards, particularly Bridge and Pinochle, with many neighborhood card clubs and church groups. Other hobbies included BINGO, scrapbooking, bowling, playing golf and tennis, and cooking her iconic ravioli, which became a favorite of her family as well as members of her community. Jeanette loved to travel and always learned facts about each destination. She cherished the special memories made while accompanying her daughter on Continuing Education trips to Vegas, Reno, Alaska, Biloxi, and New Jersey. Jeanette loved the casinos!
Jeanette lived her life full of adoration, passion, and strength. She will be dearly missed. Visitation will be on Friday, November 22, 2024, from 4:00PM-8:00PM, at Matz Funeral Chapels, 410 E Rand Rd., Mt Prospect, IL 60056. Mass will take place on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 10:00AM at St. Emily's Catholic Church, 1400 E Central Rd, Mt Prospect, IL 60056.
