Jeanne Anstadt, 98, of
York, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and close friends. Born to the late Paul G. and Emily Elizabeth (Stock) Finke of York, Jeanne was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She will be long remembered for her resilience in the face of life's challenges and her unwavering commitment to kindness, faith, and service.
A proud York native, Jeanne graduated from William Penn High School in 1945. On August 23, 1947, following his discharge from military service, she married her high school sweetheart, William E. Anstadt. They shared 14 years of marriage and a joyous life together until his untimely passing.
Jeanne is survived by her three children: daughters Margaret Gardner and Barbara Anstadt, and son Michael Anstadt (Kadee). Her legacy lives on through her seven grandchildren: Christopher Gardner (Christy), Elizabeth Neumann (Chris), William Anstadt (Stephen), Michael Anstadt (Brynne), Rebecca Foster (Michael), Bri Waddell (Michael), and Erick Scharer (Shana), as well as twelve beloved great-grandchildren. Jeanne was predeceased by her siblings; Mary Jane Kauffman, Pauline Van Hyning, and Edward Finke.
A tireless volunteer, Jeanne's life was defined by her service to the York community. She served as an election worker for over 50 years, supported Red Cross blood drives, and dedicated 35 years to the York Fair's annual knitting and sewing contests. Jeanne for many years was part of the volunteer team working at Hershey Park to benefit Spirit Trust Lutheran Home.
Always active, she was a lifelong bridge player and an avid league bowler until the age of ninety-two. In retirement, her sense of adventure took her to many of the 50 states and to six different countries.
Central to Jeanne's life was her faith; she was a devoted member of Luther Memorial Church since 1957.
The family is extremely thankful for the incredible support Jeanne received from neighbors and friends. Her perseverance, energy, and commitment to her loved ones will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew her.
