Tigard resident, Mrs. Jeanne Carol Schneider Lumby, 76, passed away, Saturday, August 26, 2023 from cancer at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland.
Jeanne was born at the family home on July 27, 1947 to Buster McCaslin and Wanda Jo (Thompson) in Stigler, Oklahoma. Her cousin was also born at the family home on July 29, 1947 and their birth certificates got the two days switched around. Jeanne graduated high school. She had moved to Oregon and resided in Hillsboro, St. Johns, Portland and Tigard. Jeanne had worked at K-Mart for a brief period but was the lead singer with a wonderful voice for a country band called Country Cargo.
She loved taking care of her family, friends and home. She enjoyed decorating her home and garage sailing. But most of all she loved taking care of her bird, Jessi and dog, Sadie, husband, Joseph and son, Brian.
"Jeanne was a very strong woman and very outspoken. Either she liked you or she didn't and you definitely knew either way. She was always there for you no matter what. Jeanne was a great mother, a wonderful wife, fantastic friend, aunt and confidant. She always was a shoulder to lean on and she never judged anyone, always accepting. People loved her even though she was very bull headed. Jeanne was a proud member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Jesse Schneider; father, Buster McCaslin; mother, Wanda Jo McLemore; brothers, David Scott & Michael M. McLemore; sister, Patricia Anne Hebert; twin daughters, Joanna and Diana; and sons, Markie & unknown name.
She is survived by her son, Brian Schneider of Portland, OR; step daughters, Joanne, Vicki and Trina all of Portland, OR; brother, Rick McLemore of Utah; sister, Barbara of Bend, OR; and numerous step grandchildren, nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
A celebration of Jeanne's life will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 24, 2023 at the Shadywood Park 535 NE 24th Ave, Hillsboro, OR 97124.
