Jeannette L'Heureux Obituary

Jeannette A. L'Heureux, 95, formerly of Manchester, NH, and Haines City, FL, entered into the presence of our Lord, on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, to receive her promised eternal reward.

She was a gentle, loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Most importantly, she was a woman of great faith, living out her faithfulness by daily entrusting herself and those she loved to her Father in Heaven. She held a great devotion to the prayers of the Holy Rosary and the Way of the Cross.

Jeannette was born in Manchester, NH, on January 27, 1927, to Ernest and Cora Demers. She was the youngest of 12 children, all who have preceded her in death. She was a resident of Manchester for most of her life. For 15 years she resided in Haines City, FL. She has most recently resided at Windham Terrace in Windham, NH, for the past seven years.

Jeannette Demers entered into the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony on August 23, 1947 with Albert L'Heureux and remained faithfully committed for 73 years. Albert and Jeannette exchanged marriage vows on the very ground where they first met - St. Marie's church in Manchester, NH. They renewed their vows there in 1997.

Jeannette was a licensed beautician. She worked beside her beloved sister, Georgette, serving many clients in a shop in her parents' family home. During WWII, they provided a place of respite for many wives whose husbands were serving in the armed forces. Upon moving to Nashua, NH, she owned and operated a very successful salon.

Jeannette had a special place in her heart devoted to the prayers and works of the "Sisters of the Precious Blood," a cloistered Catholic community in Manchester. She shared memories of walking on the Notre Dame Bridge, over the cold Merrimack River, to bring shoelaces to the Sisters. Many votive cards, mass intentions, and personal notes were sent to her daughters and others by the Sisters at her request.

Jeannette enjoyed cooking, knitting, traveling, reading biographies and inspirational literature, as well as listening to religious music. She was especially sensitive toward the needs of others. She had a keen intuitive gift for sensing the hearts of others that led to her compassionate understanding and forgiving ways. Long after her daughters left home, even their friends continued to come by. She always had an open door, an open heart, and more often than not, a hot bowl of soup.

Jeannette was preceded in death by Albert, her husband, on May 2, 2020, and her infant son, Michael Albert, in 1954. Jeannette leaves five daughters, Elaine Ambrose (Gary) Denmark, ME, Judith L'Heureux (Peter Nathanson) Albuquerque, NM, Celeste Lovett of Henderson, NV, Denise Croy (Jeff) Roseburg, OR and Lisa Sauvageau (Daniel) Windham, NH. Her beloved family also includes 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.

SERVICES: A funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, January 28th at 12:00 noon EST at Saint Catherine Church, 267 Webster St., Manchester, NH. You may also watch via livestream at www.saintcatherineparishnh.com Committal prayers will follow at Mt. Calvary Mausoleum, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester, NH.

The family would like to thank her second family at Windham Terrace for their loving care throughout the years, and the caring staff at Amedisys Hospice Care.

In lieu of flowers and on behalf of Jeannette's stated wishes, the family requests that donations be sent to the Monastery of the Precious Blood, 700 Bridge St., Manchester, NH 03104

Jeanette was so kind. I loved her Tai Chi class and remember her telling me how her favorite day was when my daughter Sarah and granddaughter Taylour (6 years old) attended and had a great time. She was so happy to see 3 generations. I think of Jeanette often and have always missed her at Sweetwater.

I worked at Windham Terrace and Jeannette was such an amazing and lovely lady. She always said I had a great smile and I would love having conversations with her everyday. I will miss seeing her colorful hair clips with her matching outfits. She was such a loving person and she will be missed.
