Jeff Britt

Glenn "Jeff" Jeffrey Britt went home to be with his Heavenly Father on January 13, 2026, at the age of 68. He was born on June 28, 1957, in New Bern, North Carolina, to the late Andy Crowell Britt and Hazel Thompson Britt. Jeff was the youngest of Hazel's twelve children.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 18th, 2026; at Bethel Baptist Church in Mt. Gilead. Rev. Rupert Medford will be officiating. A burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Jeff attended West Montgomery High School, where he proudly played football for the Warriors (#49). He was recognized for his performance on the field with a place on the Greensboro Daily News' All-State Checklist honoring outstanding players across the state.

Jeff was a talented bricklayer by trade, a skill that became both his profession and his identity in the community. He worked nearly his entire life in masonry, laying brick even on the day he passed. He took great pride in pointing out the projects he helped build, including a monument at Town Creek Indian Mound-one of the many lasting examples of his craftmanship.

Jeff married Laura Andrews on February 12, 1994. He is survived by his children: Brittany Bates; Dustin Britt; and Kasey Britt Crump. Though Brittany lived out of state, Jeff did his best to visit and stay in touch whenever he could. Jeff was deeply committed to his children and was actively involved in their activities as they grew up. He served as Cubmaster for Pack 80 and supported their involvement in Girl Scouts, soccer, basketball, and more. No matter what they were doing, he was proud to be present and to encourage them.

Jeff was a member of Hamer Creek Baptist Church. He was a man of conviction who valued character, integrity, and doing what was right. Quiet and reserved by nature, he was nevertheless friendly and warm, often greeting others with a smile.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters Ruth Britt Wade, Rachel Britt Morton, Lois Britt House, and Shirley Britt Bell, as well as two siblings who passed in early childhood, Helen Irene and Vernon Alexander. He is survived by his siblings Bernice Britt Price of Navarre, FL; Earl Britt of Mount Gilead, NC; Loretta Britt Smith of Biscoe, NC; Eugene Britt of Troy, NC; and Larry Britt of Salisbury, NC.

In addition to his children and siblings mentioned above, Jeff is survived by son-in-law Kentay Jerome Crump, son-in-law Alfonso Popoca Baza, and is grandchildren Landon Jerome Crump, Layla Rae Crump, Serenity Ramos, Brooklynn Taylor, and Braelynn Taylor who brought him great joy.

Jeff Britt will be remembered as a hard worker, a devoted father, and a man who tried always to walk gently and do right by others.
