JEFF "ED" L. GARVIN, 62, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2025 after a long and courageous battle with renal failure.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. The Boothby Funeral Home of Cherokee, Iowa is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the family in Jeff's honor.

Jeff was born on March 16, 1963 to George and Jaclyn (Briggs) Garvin at Cherokee, Iowa. He attended Grand Meadow and Larrabee Schools, graduating from Washington High School in 1981.

Ed was united in marriage to Laura Ann Peterson on September 21, 1996 in Cherokee, Iowa.

He worked for Quinn's Service Station, Ekagaurd, Wetherell Manufacturing, Lundell Manufacturing, and Christensen Brothers until his retirement on September 26, 2010 because of his end stage renal failure.

He was a member of the Little Sioux Wildlife Association.

In his free time, Ed enjoyed working on cars, motorcycles, and tractors, making clocks, shooting guns, camping, canoeing, and spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father George Garvin, mother Jackie Garvin Letsche, grandparents Vincent and Luella Garvin and George and Lois Briggs, Lucille Briggs, father-in-law Ronald Peterson, best friend Bill Rose, many aunts, uncles, and friends.

Ed will be lovingly remembered by his wife Lauri of Cherokee, Iowa; daughter Jesica Garvin Zugel and her husband Kyle of Ellwood, Illinois; three grandchildren, Weston, Zoe, and Yvette; sisters Jerri (Steve) Corken of Cherokee, Iowa; niece Rachel (Mike) Boyd and their children Payton and Michael of Struble, Iowa and JoAnn Garvin (Mitch Baker) of Post Falls, Idaho; nephew and nieces Joe Buzynski and Ashton and Zoe Buzynski of Mezula, Montana; step brother Nick Clark of Cherokee, Iowa; mother-in-law Shirley Peterson of Quimby, Iowa; sister-in-law Angela (Tracy) Stevenson of Quimby, Iowa; niece and nephew Tenise (Brant) Wilson and their children Tara and Theo of Quimby, Iowa, Trent (Lane) Stevenson and their children Tatem and Tripp of Quimby, Iowa; brother-in-law Joe (Jessie) Peterson of Quimby, Iowa. and niece and nephew Logan and Whitney Peterson of Quimby, Iowa; also many friends.

The family would like to thank everyone who helped us through Ed's journey, especially Steve Corken, Shannon "B.J." Briggs, and a very special friend Mathew Leckband, along with many others. All the assistance was greatly appreciated.
