MARJORIE L. GOODBURN, 99, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026 at Accura Nursing Home in Cherokee, Iowa.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Mike Agnew will officiate. Private family burial will be held in Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will take place on Friday, January 9, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home located at 207 E. Main Street in Cherokee, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Marjorie's honor be given to St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com.

Marjorie Lee was born on July 22, 1926 to Charles Albert and Lois Cogdill Williams. She was born at home on a farm North of Everly, Iowa. She had an older brother, Gene, and younger siblings Irvin and George. They were fortunate to live close both sides of the family, where she was able to play ball, fish, play horseshoes with many cousins. They moved to a farm near Cherokee in the 7th grade. She worked as a nanny during high school so she could have a room in town. She graduated from Wilson High School in 1945. She attended Wayne State becoming a teacher and taught school for two years.

She was united in marriage on January 16, 1949 to Gerald "Jerry" Goodburn at St. Paul's United Methodist Church. They lived and farmed around Marcus and Cleghorn for 43 years.

She was a very active church member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cherokee, Iowa. She worked on kitchen committees, worked lunches, attended circle, washed towels, and decorated tables in the church dining room. She loved square dancing, the camping club The State Line Travelers #037, neighborhood card club, attending church activities, and arts, and crafts, especially projects with plastic canvas. Marjorie also did sewing for weddings. She was extremely social that loved visiting with people. She had a very big heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Lois (Cogdill) Williams, husband Gerald Goodburn on June 12, 2015, brothers Gene P. (Darlene) Williams and George (Geraldine) Williams; in-laws Leota (Toby) Schindler, Don (Leila Goodburn, Esther (Vernon) Green, and Elmer (Betty) Goodburn, son-in-law Steve Fassler, and nephews Dwayne Schindler and Donald Schindler.

Marjorie will be lovingly remembered by her four children, Douglas (Cindra) Goodburn of Cherokee, Iowa, Marilyn Fassler of Ivins, Utah, Pamela Goodburn of Houston, Texas, and Julie (Kevin) Prunty of Cleghorn, Iowa; 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, Kim Robinson and her children Emily and Logan, Nathan Goodburn, Lynnette (Kevin) Hillabolt and their children Sophia and Derek, Lee Fassler, Trevor Goodburn and his son Cyler, Melissa (Rudy) Fors and their children William, Brant, and Reagan, Karissa (Jon) Millim and their children Mason, Hannah, Devin, and Elizabeth Hays, Amanda Prunty, Jennifer (Mitch) Rock and their children Isaac, Merritt, and Norah; brother Irvin (Opal) Williams of Cherokee, Iowa; nieces and nephews Linda Westberg, Audrey Williams, Mike Williams, Jim Williams, Susan Williams, Danny Schindler, David Schindler, Nancy Hauswald, Jean Anderson, Linda Hughes, Steve Goodburn, Carol Wilkie, Janet Nelson, Jim Green, Deb Korleski, Karon Schmitz, and Bob Goodburn.
