Jeff passed away unexpectedly on January 26, 2025, at his family home in Bay City, Michigan at the age of 57. He was born November 7, 1967 in Saginaw, Michigan. Jeff grew up in Freeland, Michigan, he was a 1986 graduate of Freeland High School. He owned and operated Freedom Clean, his carpet cleaning business, with his wife Jennifer, and was a delivery driver for Amazon. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed camping, basketball and all things University of Michigan. He was a boys basketball coach at Western and Garber High Schools and coached football at Western Middle School.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Jennifer [Baldwin] Yates who he married May 20, 1995; three sons, Griffin, Landon and Cooper; his parents, Richard and Patricia Yates; two brothers, Jason [Dannette] Yates and Joel Yates; his father-in-law, James Baldwin; his sister-in-law, Melinda [Rob] Devoy, his brother-in-law, Brian [Yvonne] Baldwin; his nieces and nephews, Ben and Lauren Devoy, Nicole [Dan] DeCorte, Brittney [Cameron] Sullivan and Brandon Yates, five great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Joan Baldwin, and his grandparents both sides.
Funeral Services will take place Friday January 31 at 11 a.m. at Gephart Funeral Home. Officiating will be E.J. Brown with cremation following. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home on Thursday, January 30 to receive family and friends from 2 to 8 p.m., and on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
