Jeffery "Jammin Jeff" Lee Wilson, age 59, of West Frankfort, IL, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at 12:16 a.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2024, in Stonebridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Benton, IL.
He was born on February 26, 1964, in West Frankfort, IL, the son of Virgil Vernell and Joyce Gail (Simpson) Wilson.
Jeff attended school in West Frankfort and later attended at Rend Lake College of Ina, IL, where he took classes in heating and air conditioning.
He was united in marriage to Theresa Culpepper on November 16, 1987, in West Frankfort and this union was blessed with a daughter, Lacey and two sons, Dustin and Zachary.
His working career the majority of his lifetime was in landscaping and as a groundskeeper. He worked for many years with Joe Hickman in landscaping and since about 2006 he has worked as a groundskeeper for Stone Funeral Home of West Frankfort and was currently employed at the time of his death. He found great pride and joy keeping everything around the funeral home perfect. He was one that you never had to tell him about anything that needed done: He just knew and saw it.
He was a member of The Heights Church of God of West Frankfort.
In his spare time, he loved singing and playing "Rock Music" music, on the guitar. He was known by his music friends as "Jammin Jeff."
He loved his family, especially his granddaughter, Mallory and enjoyed spending time with them. The many memories created will now be cherished by those he leaves behind.
He is survived by his daughter, Lacey J. Wilson of West Frankfort; two sons, Dustin Wilson and Zachary Wilson both of West Frankfort; granddaughter, Mallory Reimer of West Frankfort; sister, Melanie Hampton and her husband, Ryan of Herrin, IL; two brothers, Tony Wilson of TN and Paul Haggerty and his wife, Holly of Tampa, FL; mother of his children, Theresa Culpepper of West Frankfort, a host of nieces and nephews, other extended family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Colton Lee Reimer; three sisters, Judy Wilson, Janice Wilson and Sherry Crofford and three brothers, James Wilson, Scott Wilson and Greg Wilson.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Stone Funeral Home, 1201 East Poplar Street, West Frankfort, IL.
The visitation will take place at Stone Funeral Home on Saturday, January 27, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Following the time of visitation, the memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Rodney Briscoe presiding.
Inurnment will take place at a later date with his family that has preceded him in East Fork Cemetery located east of West Frankfort.
The family has requested for those who prefer, memorial contributions be made to: "Stone Funeral Home" to assist with final expenses. Contribution envelopes will be available at the funeral home or may be mailed c/o Stone Funeral Home, 1201 East Poplar Street, West Frankfort, IL 62896.
