Jeffrey David Armor (59) of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on July 28, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
Born in North Caldwell, New Jersey on November 25, 1963, Jeff spent his formative years growing up in Pittsburgh, PA, resulting in a love for everything Black and Gold. He graduated from Fox Chapel High School in 1982 then traveled across the state to complete his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees at Lehigh University where he played, and later coached, men’s soccer.
After graduating from Lehigh University, he found himself on a fateful trip to the Jersey Shore, where , through friends, at a Margate dive bar, he met the love of his life, Alison. The two were married in October of 1989, and together they began a new adventure in life together. After brief moves to Athens, GA, and Columbus, OH where they were blessed with their first two children, JD and Austin, Jeff took his family back to Pittsburgh. There they completed their family of 5 with their third son, Holden. They eventually moved into Jeff’s childhood home in Fox Chapel where they raised their family.
Jeff was renowned for being a loving husband, a dedicated father, an incredible brother, a fun-loving uncle and cherished best friend. Relationships were his foundation. The people around him made his life richer and more complete. As a father he instilled his morals and values into his children leaving room for their own opinions and ideas and maintaining the role of “Biggest supporter”. As a mentor he was always willing to give his undivided attention for career or life advice. As a friend, he had an uncanny ability to sense needs and provide support. Through all relationships he had the ability to make you feel important and he was always interested in everything you had to say. You felt good about yourself when you were with him.
He was a lifelong learner with a passion and impressive knowledge of history and a movie aficionado. Jeff had a profound love for ice cream and Sci-Fi movies and, in the rare moment when he wasn’t on the go, you would find him with a book in hand. He had a zest for travel, exploring both the country and the world. Jeff's wit and humor made him the life of every party and his kind demeanor and intellectual curiosity made him the epitome of a gentleman and scholar. His impact as an idol, role model, and an inspiration will forever be cherished by many.
Jeff is survived by his wife of 33 years, Alison; sons, JD (wife, Chelsea), Austin (soon to be wife, Grace), and Holden; his older siblings Jim (wife, Mary), Diane, and John (wife, Early); a large and loving extended family, and many friends from Pittsburgh, PA to Seabrook Island, SC. He is preceded in death by his father, James Burton Armor and mother, Mary Ann Armor.
The Memorial Service will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Fox Chapel located on Powers Run Road in Pittsburgh, PA on August 24th at 11am. A coffee will follow at the Pittsburgh Field Club.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the MUSC Hollings Cancer Center in memory of Jeffrey Armor. MUSC Hollings Cancer Center Donations

"My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am."

Rest in peace Jeff. You were a great friend, colleague, and one of the best people many of us have worked with. You will be missed in more ways than you know.
Though I should walk in the valley of the shadow of death, no evil would I fear, for you are with me. (Ps 23:4)
May God give you and your family peace during this difficult time.

Jeff Armor was not only one of the best people I have ever worked with. He taught me various things that literally should be a course in how to truly manage people. He brought the best out of me and my teammates with skills we didn't know we had. Jeff was that good. Jeff made this world a better place by positively impacting all of us he touched and influenced.

In life, if you are lucky, you make some really good friends. If you are especially lucky you make a friend like Jeff. I cannot express enough how lucky I am to have had a best friend like Jeff.
