Jeffrey Lamar Ballard

Jeffrey Lamar Ballard, age 80, went to be with Jesus Saturday, November 15th, 2025. He was preceded in death by his mother and father Melton and Louvisa, and his brother Gene. Lamar was married to his beloved wife Hilda Ballard for 60 years. He was a devoted husband with unwavering commitment that set an example for everyone who knew him. He is survived by his daughters and son in-laws Tonya Alcarez (Rick), and Kami McGuire (Paul); Joel Alcarez (Caroline), Scarlett, Ashley, & his eight great grandchildren.
Known throughout his community for his steady faith, he lived a life marked by love, laughter, and service. Every Sunday for the past 60 years, you would fine Lamar dressed in his Sunday best as an active member of Pleasant Hill Church. It was here that he taught Sunday School, sang solos, and was part of the church choir. His faith was not just something he spoke about, but was something he lived. Those who knew him have no doubt that he has earned his place in Heaven.
He loved his family deeply, and was present for every milestone of his children, his grandchildren, and every relative who has gathered around his table or walked through his garden. He had a special gift for humor and loved bringing laughter to those around him (often done with his excellent train whistle). He succeeded in leaving behind ever-lasting memories for those around him-From catching every fish in the state of Alabama to gifting his home-grown veggies to his neighbors. To know him, was to know goodness and God.
The funeral will be at 2:00pm at Pleasant Hill Church on Tuesday, November 18th. His body will lie in state one hour before the service, at 1:00pm. Lamar will be laid to rest at Pleasant Hill. In lieu of of flowers, donations can be made to Pleasant Hill Church.
