Jeffrey Richard "Beepa" Belanger of
Kittery, Maine, left us suddenly on September 11, 2023. The world was blessed to have him for 63 years, and while his family and friends wanted at least 63+ more years, during his time on earth, he was loved by all around him, and he will forever be missed.
"Beepa" was born in
Sanford, Maine, to Richard and Anita (Pouilot) Belanger (both deceased) on April 4, 1960. He had three siblings: Lisa Belanger (deceased), Kimberly (David) Chretien, and Brian (Kimberly) Belanger. Anyone who knew him knew he was a hard and dedicated worker, taking minimal days off work during his lifetime, an accolade of which he was very proud. He gave even more to the service of his country, serving honorably in the U.S. Army from 1978 to 1982. He returned to Maine after his service and earned his greatest title, "dad," to Jesse (Heather) Belanger of
Wells, Maine, with Brenda Watterson of
North Berwick, Maine. His loving home became a second home to many of Jesse's friends and others, and he was given the nickname of "Old Man." His homes had a "shrine" consisting of memorabilia, good luck charms, and decorations all related to New England Patriots football: undeserving/unfaithful ones did not dare touch the shrine. He was a faithful believer in the Patriots before and after TB12. He faithfully watched each Patriot football game, and when he was not with Jesse, the two would text or call during the game. If Jesse was upset at their performance, "Old Man" would be the calm during the storm, always hopeful.
In 2013, "Old Man" was promoted to "Beepa" (grandfather) of Sawyer Wallace Belanger of Wells. To say he was proud of Jesse is an understatement; he bragged at every chance. The only person he bragged even more about was Sawyer. His love for Sawyer and all of Sawyer's activities, especially sports, was immeasurable. "Beepa" was at every football practice and most other sports practices for years. He never missed a football game in five years, no matter the distance from his home. It was noticed if he was not in the spectator section of a wrestling meet, basketball game, or lacrosse game because he was usually there cheering on Sawyer and the other kids. One usually knew if "Beepa" was somewhere because you could spot his beloved lime green Dodge Challenger in the parking lot with the license plate "BPA's Toy," a car he excitedly told folks would be Sawyer's one day.
In addition to sports, he also enjoyed hunting, vehicles, cooking, and spending time with all of his family. His companion, Yulanda Brandon, recently introduced him to Spyder motorcycles, bringing him back to his earlier days of motorcycle life. He was incredibly calm, grounded, supportive, and unconditionally loving. To know him was to love him. He was the son, father, grandfather, uncle, great-uncle, cousin, partner, and friend we all want and need in our lives.
An open celebration of life will be held at 207 Tavern, located at 811 Dow Highway in
Eliot, Maine, from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, October 7, 2023. Wear your favorite Wells Warrior or Patriots gear. In lieu of flowers, the family believes that a donation to the Wells Ogunquit Youth Football Association (WOYFCA, P.O. Box 656, Wells, ME 04090; Venmo: @WOYFCA; Online Donation - SportsOffice.com) would honor him, as his most favorite thing to do was watch Sawyer play football for the Wells Warriors.
The family wishes that each reader be sure to tell your friends and family at each departure that you love them, as you won't know if it's the last time.
