Jeffrey Scott Black Passed away just after midnight suddenly and unexpectedly in Eastern New Mexico Medical Center in Roswell, New Mexico on September 2nd, 2025. Early Life and Family Jeffrey was born in Santa Clara, California on the 26th of October 1967. He was a graduate of Fox High School in Fox Oklahoma and briefly attended The University of Oklahoma prior to joining the army. After finishing military service, he took various jobs throughout his life in the customer service industry. He was also an accomplished percussionist. He most recently had been playing the drums here in Roswell with a local band that he had helped form. Community and Service Jeffrey believed in the importance of giving back. While living in Los Angeles Jeffrey often volunteered time with other like-minded members of the community spending most Saturday mornings volunteering downtown serving meals to the homeless. Personal Passions Jeff loved music, movies, sports and family. He had an extensive knowledge of these pursuits and could often recall Sports and Entertainment facts with astonishing accuracy. Family Legacy Family meant everything. He is preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Kay Black. Those left to cherish his memory include his father, Paul Ray Black, 3 brothers and 1 sister. Steven, Randall, Darryll and Kimbery. He leaves 2 nephews and 3 nieces. Tyler, Hayden, Harriett, Lilah and Penelope. Brother-in-law and close friend, Greg Wilmoth. He also leaves a son, Gary Dawn, 29 who resides in Oklahoma. Final Farewell Services will be held on Saturday, September 6th at 10:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints, 2201 W Country Club Rd, in Roswell. Celebrating a Life In lieu of flowers, the family invites those wishing to honor their memory to contribute to a charity close to their heart or to simply perform an act of kindness.
