Jeff Brewer, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, father-in-law, brother-in-law,step father, step grandfather, step great grandfather, friend, and proud veteran of the Navy, passed away on April 5, 2024, at the age of 81.
He was born on May 5, 1942 to Raymond and Marion Brewer at DePaul hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Growing up, Jeff had a great love for sports and was active in playing baseball. He played it from elementary school all the way through high school. He was also involved in other extracurriculars, such as Boy Scouts, racing in and winning Soap Box Derby races, and was an altar boy for Our Lady of Fatima Church and School. Jeff graduated from Ferguson High School in 1960. There he was a leading track and field athlete as well as an all-state pole vaulter. He attended SEMO State University in Cape Girardeau. As a young man, he enlisted in the Navy and served aboard the USS Ticonderoga. He took an interest in boxing while in the Navy, and even won the ship’s trophy in his weight class. He was honorably discharged in 1964.
During his lifetime he excelled in different fields of work, including the St. Louis Post Dispatch Newspaper. He later moved to Detroit Michigan where he worked for the railroad. For a short time he climbed telephone poles for the local phone company. He then moved back to the St. Louis area where he made his career and retired from the United States Postal Service.
He enjoyed collecting unique items such as stamps, coins, records, antique pencil sharpeners, steins, Labrador plates, and baseball cards just to name a few. He also had a great love for music. He had a natural talent and played the harmonica, saxophone, and the guitar in his spare time.
There are many family times together that will be forever remembered by his loved ones. Some of the fondest memories with Jeff are at grandma and grandpa’s club house at Timberlake in Elsberry, Missouri. Also at Rocky Ridge Ranch where his family would camp, ride horses, swim, water ski, and boat during the summer months. These were the most memorable moments with Jeff and his family.
He will be deeply missed and will always be remembered by his loved ones. Jeff was a source of laughter for everyone around him; however he was never even trying to be funny, it always came naturally.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Marion Brewer, and first wife Linda Askins. He is survived by his wife Judy Brewer; his siblings Rick Brewer and Christine Olson; his children Michelle Huss and Scott Askins; his bonus children Richard Conner, Ronald Conner, and Kim Conner; his grandchildren Ashley Graham, Kaitlyn Watson, Skyler Huss, Faith Huss, and Hailey Huss and his great-grandchild Lorelei Graham. Jeff’s love, wisdom, strength, and laughter will be deeply missed, but will continue to inspire us all in the days and years to come.
May he rest in eternal peace, knowing that he was deeply loved and will never be forgotten.
