Matt Connell Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

Matt Connell died unexpectedly on September 8, 2025, at his residence. He was only 51 years old. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death.

Matt is survived by his loving wife Lisa (née Foster) of 15 years; and his beautiful daughter, Madeline; mother Sandra Connell (née Ind); father Hugh Thomas Connell (Peggy); mother and father-in-law Cheryl and Milan Foster. His memory will be cherished by his sister, Elizabeth Powitzky (David Schneider), and sister-in-laws Megan Teigland (Greg) and Krystine Foster.

His memory lives on with his nieces and nephews; Gabriella and Thomas Powitzky and Henry Teigland.

Matt was born in Pusan, South Korea, November 13, 1973. He was adopted by Tom and Sandy on January 23, 1975 and began his new life in Des Moines, IA. He grew up in Hazelwood, MO. Matt met Lisa while on a work trip in Minnesota. They married on June 5, 2010 and moved to O'Fallon, MO where they started their family. They then made their final move to Wentzville, MO.

Some of his greatest joys came from watching his daughter, Maddy, grow up. They created many memories while enjoying trips as a family. Visiting Minnesota, Hawaii, Florida, Baton Rouge, Walt Disney World, North Carolina, among other places.

Matt was an avid St Louis Blues supporter and loved watching wrestling and football. He also loved 90s "hairbands", putting puzzles together, food, and playing cards. Above all, he loved watching Maddy do things she loved, including gymnastics.

Matt loved working in the mortgage industry. He will miss the connections he made with people. Matt was never scared to take on new opportunities and did everything with honesty and integrity. He had very strong values and was well liked by everyone, mostly due to his positive energy. Matt had incredible patience, and always made time to help others. He would say it all comes back to us.

There are no words that can express how grateful and blessed we are to our friends and neighbors for their love and support during this difficult time. Also a heartfelt thank you to the Wentzville EMT, Firefighters, and Police for doing everything they could.

Any contributions can be made in the name of Madeline Connell for her future education adventures in life via
