Jeffrey T. Brown

1947 - 2026

Jeffrey (Jeff) Thomas Brown, age 78, of Zionsville, IN, passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, February 7, 2026. Jeff was born in Greenville, Michigan, on April 22, 1947, to the late Thomas E. Brown and Doris (Bissell) Brown.

Jeff served in the U.S. Army and was deployed to Vietnam from 1968 to 1970. After the Army, he briefly worked for the Montcalm County Sheriff's Department in Stanton, Michigan, before moving to the Greenville Public Safety Department in Greenville, Michigan, where he retired as a Lieutenant after 23 years of service.

Jeff had a lifelong appreciation for vintage cars and enjoyed spending time tinkering in his workshop. He was an avid hunter and, at one point, studied taxidermy. Above all, Jeff had a natural gift for storytelling and will be remembered best by family and friends for the hours spent around the card table.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Doris, his sister, Kristie Lea (Brown) VanSyckle, sister-in-law, Janice Kosak, and brother-in-law, Tom Siegel. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Diane; his sons, Jeffrey Jr. (Ellie) of Zionsville, IN, and Jason (Anya) of Carmel, IN; his grandchildren, Sydney, Sam, Sophia, Gus, and Aubrey; his brother-in-law, Bob VanSyckle of Greenville, MI; his nephew, Toby VanSyckle of Charlotte, MI; his niece, Heather (Jim) Ebels of Greenville, MI; his sister-in-law, Carol Siegel of Grand Rapids, MI; his brother-in-law, Frank Kosak of Grand Rapids, MI; and many great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that those wishing to honor Jeff consider making a donation to K-9s for Warriors in recognition of his military service and his love of animals.
