Jeffrey C. Cavalier, 74, of Narragansett passed away on Tuesday, January 13th. Born in Bedford, Ohio to his parents the late Charles and Naoma (Clark) Cavalier. He was the devoted husband of the late Jacqueline (Surber) Cavalier for 23 years.
A carpenter his entire life, Jeff had an incredible memory for every property he worked on and always had a story to go with it-often recalled years later for a good laugh. His work was honest, skilled, and deeply personal.
Music was one of his greatest passions. A drummer at heart, he played in bands including Second Opinion and Safe Passage. He also played the guitar and, in his earlier years, recorded an album in Nashville.
Stubborn yet gentle, straightforward and kind, Jeff followed his own path. A loner by nature, he deeply valued the friendships he chose and held onto them quietly and sincerely.
Above all, he loved his wife, Jackie. After her passing, he was never quite the same, carrying her with him in both heart and spirit for the rest of his life.
He will be remembered for his quiet strength, his love of music, and his ability to recall memories that always brought a smile or a laugh.
He was predeceased by old friends he is surely reunited with-playing music, sharing stories, and raising a little hell once again.
He is survived by his daughter, Courtney Cavalier-Avanesov, and her husband, Serge Avanesov; his grandson, Grant; his brother, Craig Cavalier; his sister and brother-in-law, Jeffrey and Patricia (Cavalier) Korecky; his sister, Cynthia (Cavalier) Novak; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held for Jeff on Saturday, January 24th from 3-5 pm in Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield, RI 02879.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Newport Festivals Foundation.
