JEFF DOBEY Obituary

JEFF DOBEY Jeffrey Duane "Jeff" Dobey, 63 of Beardstown, died on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at his home. He was born December 22, 1961 in Beardstown, the son of Emmett Ray and Peggy Joan Turner Dobey. He is survived by his sister Tierney Swan (husband Jeff) of Beardstown, and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Jeff graduated from Beardstown High School in 1980. He was born into a loving family with strong faith and became a member of the First Southern Baptist Church at a young age. In earlier years, he owned and operated a video store on the square in Beardstown. Jeff worked as an independent contractor for UShip, transporting a wide variety of items across the country, from California to New York, always accompanied by his beloved Basset Hound, King. A self-taught musician, he played guitar and sang in his band, "Madhouse." Jeff enjoyed fishing, hunting, antiquing, visiting flea markets, and expressing his artistic talents through drawing and sketching. Memorial services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to the services at the memorial home. A private family burial will be held at a later date in Benville Cemetery in rural Brown County. Memorials have been suggested to Beardstown Christian Academy.
