Jeffrey Faser Obituary
Jeffrey E. Faser, 62, of Blairsville passed away on October 13, 2025, at Shadyside Hospital with his loving family by his side. Jeff was born in Red Bank, New Jersey, in 1963 to Clarence and Vivian Faser. The family moved to Blairsville in 1965, and though he wasn't born there, Jeff truly bled orange and black.
A proud Blairsville High School graduate class of 1981, Jeff was a powerhouse on the football field, tag-teaming with his brother. He was also the Junior Olympic State Champion in Wrestling coached by Mr. Yohe, Mr. Moore and Mr. Receski. He was coached in football by Mr. Ernie "Coach" Widmar, Mr. Kozar and Mr. Meighan, which were all coaches he admired and respected deeply throughout his life. After high school, Jeff joined the workforce and, with the help of a dear friend, Jim Friedline, began what became a lifelong career. He worked as a service technician for Adelphia/Comcast Cable for 33 years. Following his time at Comcast, Jeff wasn't quite ready for retirement-he spent several years delivering for Blairsville Pharmacy and later driving a school van for Smith Bus. If he wasn't working or spending time with his family, you could usually find Jeff on his motorcycle, tinkering in the garage, or on a project in the house. He was also a proud member of the FOE 1488 of Blairsville and the Red Barn Sportsmen's Club.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Vivian Faser, and a special uncle, Theodore McCullough. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Myrtle Faser; daughters whom he was so very proud of, Courtney Rizer (James) of Blairsville and Catrina Faser (Anthony) of Saltsburg; brother and best friend, John "Big John" Faser (Karen) of Blairsville; sister, Barbara Wagner (John) of Raymond, NH; half-brother, Bob (Rosalie) Faser of Tasmania, Australia; beloved brother-in-law, John Coffman (Pat) of Aultman; as well as brothers-in-law Ed (Candy) and Rod. He is also survived by niece, Jennifer Faser, nephews, Jason (Pat), J.D. (Mercedes) and Jake (Kendal), as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless beloved friends made throughout his life-on the football field, through work and on the open road. One of Jeff's greatest joys was being PapPap to his two grandchildren, Zoey and Adren Rizer. They were his pride and joy and always brought a smile to his face.
The family requests that all attending the services dress casually wear jeans and T-shirts (Harley, Bobcat or Pittsburgh Sports). Motorcycle riders are encouraged to ride to the service in Jeff's honor. Friends will be received on Thursday, October 16, from 2–8 p.m. at Ferguson Funeral Home, Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 17, at 11 a.m. at Ferguson Funeral Home with a luncheon celebration of life immediately following at the Blairsville VFW.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended the benefit, called and just supported him and showed him how much he meant to them. It puts the family at peace knowing that he knew how much people cared for him. A special thanks to the doctors and nursing staff at Shadyside Hospital, IRMC Hillman Cancer Center oncology teams and Excela Home Visiting Nurse, Ashley for the exceptional care and compassion provided to Jeff over the past six months.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jeff's name to Lymphoma & Leukemia Society, Blood Cancer United, Attn: Donor Services, PO Box 98011, Washington, DC 20090.
