Jeffrey Garner Obituary

On Sept 5, 1955, Jeffrey Roy Garner was born in Rexburg, ID. He was the second son of three boys (Conrad and Merrill Garner) and three girls (Corrine Whitham, Yvette Foote and Roxanne Hansen) born to Darrel and Claudean (Lewis) Garner. Jeff left us after a far too aggressive cancer overtook him on August 19, 2024. He was surrounded by family.

When Conrad passed, the mantle of big brother was put on Jeff’s strong shoulders. Jeff honored the responsibility his entire life, being big brother to anyone that needed him. He led a life to be proud of, loving and helping anyone in need. He lived his life with humility, with the best of intentions. He was larger than life. Marathons, jumping out of planes, riding motorcycles, hiking and travel. His generosity was unmatched. Giving time and resources without a momentary selfish thought. Christmas parties with Santa, teaching at the prison, volunteer police officer, visiting nursing homes. In 2018 he and Colleen Underwood found each other and were married. They fell completely in love and for the rest of his life he found a partner to match his adventurous spirit, to love completely, a best friend in all ways.

The losses that proceed him were many. Too many. His brothers Conrad and Merrill. Parents Darrel and Claudean. His wife Lorna (Thornwall). Brothers of the heart Jeff (Krider) and Mike (Droubay). Daughter Alisha (Garner-Fiddes), son Russell (Thornwall) and granddaughter Zara (Mercer). “Family” is such a big word and Jeff made it even bigger. With Nikki (Zane) and Alisha (William “Billy”) his family legacy had begun. The family grew with Sharmaine (Dave) and Robert (Sarah). Daniel (Alicia) and Emmanuel (Lacinda) were adopted into his family. Then Russell (Natalie) and Jason (Loretta) brought more for him to love and be loved by. Finally, Denny (Carol), Kami (Quentin), and Jeff (Blair) became family. He loved being Grandpa. And grandkids and great grandkids does he have! Grandchildren: Tristan A, Colton, Iris, Zara, Riley, DeVaughn, Kaitlyn, Melissa, Jake, Kimberli, Emma, Russell, Bianca, Tristan T, Damian, Nico, Chase T, McKayla, Keira, Morgan, Jenna, Zavon, Taysia, Darius, Keyon, Chase U, Corah, Easten, Paislee U, Jasmin, Hazel, and Celeste. Great grandchildren: Paislee, Malakai, Jensen, Tilleona, Dante, Cassius, Mickey, Frankie, Angel, Nathanael, Emerald, Ibened, Yaretzi, Alicia, and Daniella.

There will be a viewing on Sunday, Aug 25th at 6 o’clock. Services will be Monday, Aug 26th at 1 o’clock pm after a one hour viewing at noon. The Relief Society is providing a luncheon following at.

There will also be a celebration of Jeff in the way that gave him the greatest joy, a picnic/party with all those he loves on Sept 14th.

His favorite saying was “Waddle On.” Who knew waddling could create so many ripples?
