Jeffrey P Gilby (Jeffco) 62, passed away peacefully, July 15, 2024, surrounded by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mr. Gilby was born in Staten Island, New York. He left Staten Island as a young boy to reside in Howell, New Jersey where he met his high school sweetheart. After starting their family, they settled in Lakehurst, New Jersey. He was an excavator operator for 44 years. He took great pride in his work and teaching the younger crew. In a matriarchal family, Jeff showed the boys how to be men. He was a proud elk for 42 years. He was a second generation elk member starting out his 42 year membership in Lakewood, New Jersey. Jeff was a founding member of the Jackson MC, which he remained until his passing. He was a Harley motorcycle enthusiast that he passed to his sons and grandsons. Football season was a staple in our home.Go Big Blue! Jeff and Jan were die hard NASCAR fans. They loved traveling to watch the car races. Jeff loved life, which he passed down to the next two generations.
He is predeceased by his wife of one hundred years, Janis Gilby, their daughter Amanda Lynn, parents Rita and Edward Gilby Senior, sister Joanne Gilby, and baby brother Larry Gilby. Surviving Jeffco is his daughter Allison McKelvey and her husband Robert, son Jason Gilby and his wife Shanan, and sons Jerome Gilby and Alexander Gilby. Jeffco's G5 Tremain and Campbell Mckelvey, Shealyn, Desiree, Marianna and Kyle Nichols, Cali, Payton and Calvin, and his baby G's Charleston and Graham. He leaves behind his fur baby bruiser and his loving siblings, Edward Gilby Junior and Karen Campbell.
Celebration of life in honor of Jeff will be held on August 3, 2024 at 3pm at the Jackson Elks, 1059 East Veterans Highway Jackson, NJ 08527.
Services are entrusted to Jersey Shore Cremation, 43 Taylor Avenue, Manasquan, NJ.
