Jeffrey Preston Hoyle, age 67, of Media, PA, passed away peacefully, at home, surrounded by his family and friends, on October 8, 2025, after a courageous two-and-a-half-year battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born on July 16, 1958, in Erie, PA, to the late Dr. J. Preston and June Masters Hoyle, Jeff grew up in Lewisburg, PA. Jeff's judicial temperament was evident even as a child as he was confident in arguing his "case" in any situation. His youth was also marked by antics in Lewisburg, sports championships, and frequent appearances in the local newspaper.
After graduating from Lewisburg Area High School, Jeff went on to attend Albright College and Widener University Delaware Law School. In Philadelphia, PA, Jeff began his career at Pepper Hamilton & Scheetz and later moved to Holsten and White. Finally, Jeff established his law practice in Media, PA, Jeff moved to Glen Mills, where he raised his children with patience and persistence and resided for over 40 years.
Jeff opened the Law Offices of Jeffrey P. Hoyle. Over his career he was admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court Bar and argued before both the Pennsylvania Supreme Court and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals-three of the proudest accomplishments of his career. His legacy, however, lies in his tireless advocacy for the victims of a tragic 1998 accident on Route 1 at the infamous "Dead Man's Curve." Jeff's successful efforts on behalf of the five victims' families led the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation to install a concrete median along that stretch of highway in Delaware County-a safety measure that has likely saved countless lives over the past two decades.
For Jeff, the true measure of success lay in the people he helped. Sustained by his wife, Jackie, who was both office manager and legal assistant, Jeff's law practice touched the lives of so many. He loved fiercely and poured his heart into his work, the lives of his family and friends, and anyone who was in need. His reputation spread through their gratitude and loyalty. Once you were his client, you were his client forever. For Jeff, the law was just another means of helping others, and his clients often became lifelong friends. He listened deeply, cared fully, and gave generously-to those seeking legal counsel and to anyone in need of a helping hand or listening ear.
Jeff was an avid motorcyclist and golfer, with a lifelong passion for his Porsche and recreational shooting. Like the rest of his family, he cherished time at the Hoyle family cottage in Shanksville, PA, where some of his happiest memories were made-water skiing, pulling tubers on the lake, and making wonderful memories with his three children.
Jeff had a certain spark in his eyes whenever he had the opportunity to talk about his children. Like his parents before him, he believed that the bonds of family were life's most important treasure, never missing a chance to share in the accomplishments of those he loved-a value with which Chloe, Preston, and John were raised.
Jeff's "honorary brothers"-his cousin, Rick Masters, who lived with the family for many years, his lifelong circle of childhood friends, and brothers-in-law Bob Fournier and Dale Stanton-Hoyle-were constant sources of laughter and loyalty. They shared golf outings, ATV rides, and countless shenanigans.
Jeff was the beloved husband of Jackie Hoyle, and a devoted father of Chloe, Preston, and John. He is also survived by his loving sisters, Lynn Stanton-Hoyle (Dale) and Susan Hoyle Fournier; and his nieces and nephews, Eric Stanton-Hoyle, Sara Caparelli (Lucas), Megan Fournier Takoushian (Eric), Jimmy Fournier (Blanka), and Natalie Fournier.
Family and friends are invited to visitation with his family on Saturday, October 18th, from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Road,
Garnet Valley, PA, followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 PM and a reception afterwards. A celebration of his life-including a dedication of a new tennis court at Lewisburg Area High School-and interment in Lewisburg Cemetery will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that gifts in memory of Jeffrey Hoyle be made to either of the following: for the new tennis court number 4 at Lewisburg High School, where Jeff was the lead member of the Varsity Tennis Team. Donors should write "Jeff Hoyle memorial" in the memo section of their check or in the notes section of the online donation. : A World Without Pancreatic Cancer, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting patients, raising awareness, and educating the world about pancreatic cancer.
