He was born on May 27, 1964, in Potter, Nebraska, to his steadfast and faithful parents, Harvey and Janet Jung, who continue to live in the community that shaped his values of hard work, kindness, and integrity.
Jeff was an honor student and proud graduate of Potter High School. He went on to attend the University of Nebraska, earning his degree in accounting. His academic excellence earned him a scholarship to attend Northwestern University's prestigious business school for his master's degree. Though he had opportunities that could have taken him far from home, Jeff's heart led him back to Western Nebraska.
He began his career as a CPA in Kimball before putting down roots in Sidney, where he built a respected career based on honesty, dedication, and genuine care for the people he served.
A lifelong Husker fan, Jeff rarely missed a game and loved sharing that passion with family and friends. He also had a true joy for cooking. Whether it was Sunday dinners, tailgates, or holiday gatherings, the kitchen was where Jeff's warmth and generosity shined most.
Jeff was an active member and devoted servant of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where he shared his musical gifts as the church's organist. Music was a tremendous part of Jeff's life, and through it he found both joy and a way to serve his faith and community.
He shared a close bond with his sisters, Kristi Jung and Lori Biesecker, and his life took on new meaning when he married Shannon Jung. With a heart full of love and devotion, he embraced her three children Joshua, Jordan and Cassie, raising, guiding, and loving them as his own. Together, Jeff and Shannon were blessed with a daughter, Payton Jung. His children were the light of his life and the pride of his heart. Jeff found immense love and joy in being "Papa" to his three grandchildren Beckett Wamsley, Leighton Tjepkes, and Gianna Tjepkes.
Jeff will be remembered for his quiet strength, sharp wit, and unwavering loyalty to family and friends. His kindness, humility, and steadfast love left an enduring mark on everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Shannon; their children Joshua (Lauren) Wamsley, Jordan (Derek) Tjepkes, Cassie Kennedy, and Payton Jung, his cherished grandchildren Beckett, Leighton, and Gianna, his parents, Harvey and Janet Jung, his sisters, Kristi Jung and Lori (Derek) Biesecker, sisters-in-law, Pam (Art) Sobczak and Jody O'Connell, brothers-in-law, Denny Wamsley, John Wamsley, Jerry (Julie) Wamsley, and Scott (Christine) Wamsley, and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Jeff will be deeply missed and forever loved.
