Dr. Jeffrey Kaplan, age 70, of Doc Howell Road in Spruce Pine passed away peacefully from complications of Leukemia on Wednesday March 12, 2025, at the Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. NC surrounded by his family. Born in Denver, CO, he was a son of the late Arthur and Shyrle Gladstone Kaplan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a younger brother.
Jeffrey earned multiple degrees including his doctorate. He was an author and editor of numerous publications in Political and Religious Violence and Anti-Terrorism. He sat on boards that study political violence and terrorism. His expertise created opportunities for him to travel around the world. He loved teaching others and doing many types of Field Research.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Sheron Hollifield Kaplan of the home, stepson, Luke Robinson and wife, Jodi of Bakersville, brother-in-law, Tim Hollifield and wife, Kathey of Spruce Pine and his furry companion, Amal.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Jeffreys life on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 12:00 until 4:00 pm at his residence.
