Jeffrey Michael McCleerey

Jeffrey "Jeff" McCleerey, 78, of Hendersonville, N.C., passed away peacefully at home on December 26, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Jeff's life was a testament to compassion, generosity, and unwavering support for others.

Jeff's journey began in Alexandria, Va., where he graduated from F.C. Hammond High School before earning a B.S. in marketing from the University of South Carolina. He served his country as an air traffic controller in the United States Air Force and later continued this important work with the Federal Aviation Administration. Through every chapter of his career, Jeff was known for his calm presence and willingness to help those around him.

For nearly five decades, Jeff shared a devoted marriage with his beloved wife, Brenda Sparks McCleerey. Their partnership was built on mutual respect, laughter, and a deep love that touched everyone who knew them. As a father to Amber McCleerey, Jeff was endlessly supportive-always present at school events, dance competitions, and as a guiding hand.

Jeff's caring spirit extended far beyond his family. In Henderson County, he was a familiar face at community events, always ready to lend a hand or offer encouragement. As a dedicated member of the Hendersonville Kiwanis group, Jeff took pride in congratulating every child who earned a Terrific Kid certificate at Bruce Drysdale Elementary School. His craftsmanship was evident in the log cabin he built for his family and the creative props he made for Brenda and Amber's dance competitions. Jeff's volunteerism touched countless lives-whether tutoring students at Hendersonville Middle School, chaperoning school events, or simply being a friend to those in need.

At home, Jeff's gentle nature was cherished by his family and the many dogs he loved over the years. He is survived by his devoted wife Brenda, daughter Amber, brother and sister-in-law Timothy and Jean McCleerey of Woodbridge, Va., brother-in-law Jim Sparks of Hendersonville, N.C., and a host of extended family and friends who will forever remember his kindness and generosity.

A graveside service will be held at Shepherd Memorial Park in Hendersonville, NC on January 13, 2026 at 2:00 PM.

Jeff McCleerey's legacy is one of love, service, and quiet strength. He leaves behind a community made better by his presence and a family who will always carry his caring spirit in their hearts.
