Jeffrey Scott Obituary

Jeffrey Ralph Scott

June 2, 1958 - June 13, 2025

Jeffrey Ralph Scott, aged 67, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2025, in Correctionville Iowa. Jeff was born to Sally Lorenzen Scott and Coral Scott on June 2, 1958. Jeff was cremated and his ashes will be spread by friends in a private ceremony.

Jeff graduated from Sioux City West, Centennial Class of 1976. He was Class President, multi-year member of the Student Council, Golf and Debate. Jeff and his debate partner, Dave Nichols, won several debate tournaments including going undefeated at the 1975 State Tournament. Jeff graduated from the University of Iowa in 1980 with a bachelor's degree in history.

Jeff worked several jobs over the years. Politics and political discussions were a constant in his life. He worked on the 1980 Kennedy for President Campaign. Jeff appreciated good music, was a voracious reader, loved learning about history, was excellent at trivia and enjoyed spending time with a small circle of friends.

Jeff was a lifelong Nebraska football fan. As a Husker fan, he took a lot of ribbing from his four housemates in Iowa City. The 1977 Husker vs Hawkeye game ended with a late-game fumble recovery by Iowa that sealed the Iowa victory over Nebraska, consequently Jeff refused to leave his bedroom for three days.

Jeff was married and later divorced. He is survived by his brother, Jim (Charm), brother, John (Pam); nieces, nephews and some friends from his college days who remember the bright light that he was. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jeff was an on-again/off-again friend of Bill W. "Addiction is a thief. It steals your soul, your time, and too often, your life." Unknown

With the grade school with Jeff . Jeff was very intelligent and had a funny wit about himself we grew up in the same neighborhood but different districts for junior high school I went to North Junior Jeff went to West Senior but we run into each other quite often at El Fredo Pizza or I'd pass by his house on my way back from working out at briarcliff stairs. What a great guy Jeff was I'll miss his friendly banter. We were both friends of Bill w. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him, what a great man.

I decided to add an addendum to my original post. Jeffrey's grandmother, Essie, was someone I dearly loved. I wanted hereto be my grandmother. Sally found out that I collected cook books and gave me one of Essie's cookbooks that I still cherish.
