Jeffrey Lloyd Spaulding 47, of Hooper UT, passed away in his hometown of Hooper, Saturday October 11th, 2025.
Born in Ogden and raised in the once-quiet town of Hooper, Utah, Jeffrey filled the hushed streets with the radiant spark of his restless curiosity, playful mischief, and deeply loving spirit, in his family home alongside his three siblings and parents. He graduated High School in 1996, the same year his lifelong passion for music began with his first set of turntables.
In his early twenties, he shared that passion as a DJ and opened his first record shop, 'Infekted Records', in Ogden, supporting himself through a quirky mix of hometown jobs while forging & maintaining lasting friendships.
At 24, Jeffrey enlisted in the Coast Guard, serving honorably from 2002 until 2017 and achieving the rank of Machinery Technician Petty Officer First Class. He embraced fatherhood, becoming a single father to his daughter, Jocelyn, born in Buffalo, New York, in 2004. His first son, Cadence, passed away early in pregnancy, forever remaining in his heart. His service also took him to Minnesota and, later, the Bay Area of California, where he would spend much of his later life.
Following his discharge, Jeff pursued his rekindled passion for music and creativity, earning a bachelor's degree in sound design from the Academy of Art. He worked in a variety of audio-visual roles, sharing his love of music and art with his daughter and those around him. Music was at the core of his soul-he built community through his DJing, hosting large gatherings in California that brought people together through rhythm, joy, and connection.
Jeffrey was also an incredibly gifted mechanic-there wasn't a piece of machinery he couldn't repair. It was a testament to his devotion, determination, resourcefulness, and his desire to nurture. After moving back to Utah following his daughter's graduation, he generously shared this gift, repairing motorcycles and helping neighbors.
He colored the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing him: kaleidoscopic hues of rhythm, youthfulness, wit, humor, and profound love. Jeffrey's life held brimming potential, fatefully marked with a melancholic brevity. Though fleeting, his impact will endure. The silhouette of his spirit, the memories he left behind, and the energy of those who preceded him will continue to nurture, strengthen, and inspire as he illuminates the path for his loved ones and far beyond.
He is preceded in death by his mother, RaLane Spaulding, grandfather and grandmother Ralph & Elaine Fowers and Lloyd & Julia Spaulding. His son, Cadence Spaulding, and nephew Tanner Wolfe, as well as his brother-in-law John McGahee.
He is survived by his father Dale Spaulding, and three siblings and their spouses Tana & Melvin Wolfe, Alan & DeeDe Spaulding, Janalyn & Ryan Todd. He is also survived by his daughter Jocelyn Spaulding. As well as many nieces and nephews as well as one great-nephew.
