Kent Wessman Clawson, 74, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026, in
Roy, Utah, after a courageous 22-year battle with cancer and kidney failure. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many, Kent lived a life defined by service, generosity, and unwavering faith.
Born on July 11, 1951, in
Ogden, Utah, Kent was raised with strong values rooted in hard work and community. He graduated from Weber High School in 1969 and later returned to college in his forties to earn degrees in Computer Science and Electronic Engineering-an achievement that reflected his lifelong commitment to learning and self-improvement.
Kent's career was as diverse as it was impressive. He worked in nearly every trade imaginable and had an uncanny ability to fix anything-from cars and farm equipment to the most complex household repairs. His professional journey culminated at Hill Air Force Base, where he contributed to national defense by working on fighter jets and later designing electrical systems for buildings, including Ballistic Missile Silos.
A man of deep faith, Kent was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a two-year mission in Sweden as a young man and continued to serve faithfully throughout his life. Among his many callings within the Church, he especially cherished those that allowed him to work with youth. His involvement with the Boy Scouts of America was particularly meaningful; he took great pride in helping young men achieve their Eagle Scout Awards. Kent's passions extended beyond work and church service.
In his younger years, he enjoyed drag racing and rebuilding cars-a love that never truly left him. Raised on a farm, he maintained a connection to farming throughout his life. Above all else, Kent found joy in spending time with his large family. Family parties and trips were frequent highlights that brought laughter and lasting memories.
He is survived by his wife Peggy Mortensen Clawson; their children Chad (Lisa) Clawson, Carrie (Robert) Bateman, Kelly (Brad) Paxton, Kevin (Michelle) Clawson, Cody (Kelsi) Clawson, and Kyle (Dez) Clawson; along with 15 grandchildren who have brought into the family six bonus children and nine bonus grandchildren. His legacy also lives on through countless others whose lives were touched by his kindness and willingness to help at a moment's notice.
Kent was preceded in death by his parents George and Lois Clawson and his sister Joy Tolman. The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the many doctors and caregivers who provided compassionate care during Kent's long health journey.
