Sherman F. Olsen, a reliable pillar of strength, inspiration, and love passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, at the age of 93, following complications from a recent surgery.
Born in
Franklin, Idaho on March 7, 1933, Sherman was a man of great integrity and courage. His supportive nature, combined with his thoughtful demeanor, and kind manner earned him the respect and admiration of all who knew him. As a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Sherman exemplified the verse from the Book of Mormon: "Wherefore, be of good cheer, and do not fear, for I the Lord am with you, and will stand by you" (Doctrine and Covenants 68:6). His faith was a guiding light in his life, and it was apparent in his every action.
Sherman spent his early career as a farmer, working for his father, Frank Olsen upon the Olsen Family Farm. He also worked part time at the Del Monte plant.
Sherman obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting at Utah State University. He worked for many years as a dedicated accountant for Utah Power and Light until his retirement in 1998. His diligent work ethic and attention to detail were only surpassed by his steadfast love for his family and friends. Sherman found joy in hobbies such as ballroom dancing, building radio-controlled airplanes, and watching military historical documentaries. He also had a deep passion for model trains, a pastime that reflected his careful precision and patience. He was a resident of
Roy, Utah for over seven decades, where he led a fulfilling life filled with love and companionship.
Sherman is survived by his children, his son; Cless (Tereza) Olsen, his daughter; Holly (Robert) Hotchkiss and his numerous grandchildren, great, grandchildren and even great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Rita Mae Olsen, and his parents, Frank and Ann Powell Olsen. Sherman's legacy of love, devotion, and service lives on in the hearts of his loved ones.
