Paul Olsen

Paul C. Olsen, known fondly to his family as "Pops", passed away on March 2, 2026. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 11, 1942. After serving our nation in the Army during the Vietnam War, he married the love of his life Harriet O'Donnell in 1967. They raised their family in Mt. Prospect, Illinois and later put down roots in Lake Summerset, Illinois to enjoy their retirement together.

Paul was a witty man, known for his humor and ability to lighten the hearts of those around him. He was loving and loyal, supportive in every sense and always available to offer a helping hand or a comforting word.

Paul was a hardworking individual, dedicated to his craft as a sheet metal worker. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 73 in Chicago, and was proud to say he "built" several landmark buildings around the city. When he wasn't working, Paul, in his youthful years, enjoyed golf and racquetball. As he grew older, he found peace and tranquility in fishing, the thrill of video poker, and settling in with a good book.

Above all, Paul was a family man. He adored his children, finding immense joy in his role as a father and, later, a grandfather. He shared 40 wonderful years of marriage with Harriet, his forever bride, until her passing in 2007. He is lovingly remembered by his children: Julia Hargrove and her husband Eddie; Michael Olsen and his wife Christa; and Jeffery Olsen and his wife Janice. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Bradley, Cayden, Kelsey, Morgan, Abigail, and Gage Olsen.

Paul is also survived by his brother, George Olsen, and his sister-in-law, Marianne Olsen. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lucille Olsen, and his brother, Robert Olsen.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at McCorkle Funeral Home - Durand Chapel, 101 W. Main Street, Durand, Illinois with Rev. Dennis Vargas officiating. Burial to be held at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Durand, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
