Jeffrey "Stoney" Allen Stoneburner, 71 of Zanesville, died Wednesday May 21, 2025, in his wife's arms at Genesis Hospital after a long courageous battle with heart disease.
He was born on November 21, 1953, in Zanesville, Ohio, son of the late Curtis and Adah "Jane" (Zumbro) Stoneburner.
Stoney graduated from Zanesville High School in 1972. He went on to gain employment at Brockway Glass, where they put him through Journeyman school. He became one of the very best at his craft in the bottle world. He would go on to give the company 43 years of service before retiring from Owens-Brockway in 2016. If you knew Stoney, you knew he was a perfectionist. EVERYTHING he did had to be perfect; nothing else would do, and we absolutely loved that about him.
Stoney married Karen Shultz in 2009 after a 21-year courtship. They spent more than 35 combined years together and operated Happy Hounds Boarding Kennel from 2011-2024. He built the kennel for his wife and her love for dogs, but soon realized he loved them just as much as she did. He was the best dog daddy any canine could ever want. He loved vintage muscle cars and trucks, sports, football (a devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Ohio State Buckeyes), good music, and great food. He was kind, generous, funny, and always down for a good time.
Stoney is preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Jane Stoneburner; maternal and paternal grandparents; special pets, Nikki, Maci, and Maggie.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Karen (Shultz) Stoneburner; special dogs, Annie, Phoebe, and Sophie; sister, Brenda (Jim) Morris of Zanesville; brother, Stan of Ruskin, Florida; 2 sons; several grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins; best friend, Clark and the members of the Patterson family; and many work buddies.
Per Stoney's wishes, there will be no services.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Animal Shelter in honor of Stoney.
A dignified cremation has been entrusted to DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home.

Stoney was one of the best employees the glass plant has ever seen. He could build or fix about anything. After we both were retired,my wife and I loved visiting the kennel with our dog. Those visits always ended up in the garage looking at Stoney´s truck and what he was working on.
Our deepest sympathies to Karen
