Jeffrey Tingey Obituary

Jeffrey Coy Tingey has finally been given the ultimate opportunity to perform on that Grand Stage in Heaven joining his beautiful and talented sweetheart Leah Jan, his step-son Nyals Bodine and step-daughter Amanda Bodine, as well as many other loving family members who preceded him.

Jeff departed his blessed mortal life on Tuesday November 5, 2024 peacefully in his sleep. He is survived by his sons Travis and Brett (Emily), his step-daughter Samantha Moore (Justin), as well as his grandkids Arie, Tate, Finn, Phippin, Asher, Penelope, August, and another little one the way.

Jeff was born to Reid and Rosella Tingey in Brigham City Utah in 1954. Jeff was a very talented Baseball player (pitcher) eventually playing for Rick's College and was scouted by the feeder team for the Kansas City Royals. Jeff ultimately felt the Lord's Call and chose to serve an LDS mission (Wales Mission) in lieu of joining the Royals feeder team, a decision he felt confident in for the rest of his life. Jeff also was quite the gymnast and taught cheer camps while in college.

One of his most impressive talents was that of being on stage and playing music with various bands through the years from the Rainbow Singers, to Crimson Rose, Overland Band, and Cheap Entertainment. Jeff loved Bluegrass and Country Music. He shared this love of music with all those around him and for a time during the COVID pandemic played and posted music on a YouTube channel.

Jeff was no stranger to tragedy and hardship, losing his step-daughter Amanda in a tragic incident in 2015, and then losing his wife Jan and step-son Nyals in a fatal car crash in 2016. Jeff additionally had many health challenges throughout his life but always made time for sharing his musical talents to bring a smile to people's faces through performance.

We love you Grandpa Jeff and know that you were jumping for joy when you woke up in Spirit Paradise to reunite with family there!

Jeff wanted to share these final thoughts (penned in 2019 on a thoughtful day):

"One positive outcome from having Rheumatoid Arthritis and Type 2 Diabetes was that it taught me to let go of the insignificant things and to just enjoy the people and places around me. My wish for you is to stop letting insignificant situations stress you out. Do what is important to you. Relax and enjoy the company of those around you. In the end, that's what matters. I am extremely grateful for the life I have lived and was fortunate to have a loving family, supportive friends, a stable and meaningful job, and a house to call my own."

Jeff's wishes were not to have a viewing, but a celebration of life, feeling that "viewings are too sad for everyone." As such there will be a Celebration of Life event on Monday November 13th at the LDS Church House at 1650 East 2600 North, North Logan, Utah 84341 from 6pm to 8pm. Additionally there will be a Graveside Service at the Wellington Cemetery in Wellington Utah at 1pm on Tuesday November 14, 2024.
