Jennifer Winona Gordon passed away on June 26, 2025. Born in Austell, Georgia on September 18, 1972, she is survived by her parents, Evelyn Landrum Gordon and Bobby Mac Gordon. She is also survived by her much-loved children Johnathan Cole Deering and Ansley Elizabeth Deering, as well as her brother Devin Howard Gordon and his family Anne, Emma, and Jack. Jennifer was blessed with many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins with whom she shared many cherished memories.
Jennifer graduated from Pebblebrook High School in 1991. During her years there, she excelled in both sports and academics while working part-time with the Cobb County Sheriff's Department. She lettered in softball, basketball, and track and graduated near the top of her class. She then attended the University of West Georgia where she earned both her bachelor's and her master's degrees in education. Later in her career, she also completed an Education Specialist degree from Piedmont College.
Jennifer began her professional career as a teacher in Cobb County before moving to Paulding County where she taught, was an instructional lead teacher, and eventually, an assistant principal. Later she worked as an instructional specialist for the Harralson County School District. After almost twenty-nine years in education, Jennifer began working with special needs adults, becoming a staunch champion, encourager, mentor, and friend for her coworkers and those in her care. Serving in this role brought her great happiness.
Even greater than her professional pursuits was Jennifer's role as a mother to Cole and Ansley, loving and nurturing both of them throughout their childhoods and beyond. Both children's successes and accomplishments brought her tremendous joy. Jennifer cherished her family, her friends, and those with whom she worked. Selflessly she was always ready with a laugh, a hug, a meal, or a shoulder to lean or cry on. All who loved her will miss her terribly.
The memorial service will be on July 2, 2025, at McEachern Memorial UMC. Jennifer's family will receive friends at 4:00pm; the service will begin at 5:00pm.
