Candace I just read an article that said you also lost your husband just a couple of months before Jenn's death. I am truely sorry for both of your losses and I know that he was there waiting for her so she didn't take her final journey alone. God Bless you Candace and to Jim and Jeff also may God hold you in His arms each and every night until you all are united in His house.

These are just a few of pictures that I have of Jennifer. Her 9th grade year, her and I loved to put my kittens in my barbie doll house, her and her step brother and finally me and her outside of her house, I will miss you Jennifer

Candace I don't know if you will remember me but I have been searching for Jen for sometime but all these "cole's" came up and never knew if she got married or not. Then I found a pic of her and I and saw her middle name and googled it and found this...I am still in shock and crying, I have no words to take the pain away from you and the family. Jennifer was my first "true" friend while we lived in Vallejo (we rented your house) and some point in time after I moved here to SD we lost contact and I wish we never would have. My gosh I know it's been over 20 yrs since Jen and I spoke to one another but I never ever forgot her or the friend she was to me. God Bless you Candace and my deepest and most sincere prayers are with you and the family.

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Welcome her now into paradise where there will be no more sorrow, no more weeping or pain, but only peace and joy with Jesus your Son, and the Holy Spirit forever and ever.

Prayer for Peace

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen

I too was in the same platoon as Cole was as we were bunkmates. She was an amazing fun spirited person who was so encouraging to everyone when we missed home so much. She will be so missed by everyone who knew her. I went to church with her every Sunday during basic and she always had high spirits even during the toughest times during basic. God bless and rest in peace Cole.

Dearest Candy, Jimmy & Jeff,
My heart reaches out for you. I'm still in awe with disbelief. I'v known you all since she was just a baby. Jennifer was my favorite kid to babysit, I use to practice braiding on her long hair when she was just a tot. She was my favorite co-worker at UPS. Jennifer's kind-heartedness and love of life was seen by everyone who's life she touched (and alot of lives were touched by her) I'm very thankful that I was able to see her before she was deployed. She, like Candy, was a great inspiring teacher for me when I started in flowers. Her inspiration will always be a part of my life. I'm truly sorry for your loss.
With Sympathy & Much love,

Jennifer Cole - FOB Summerall - Iraq

John Reynolds

August 9, 2008

Jennifer was one of the soldiers we indirectly supported through her Chaplain, Captain Chris Rusack of the 101st Airborne at FOB Summerall and she was a regular attendee to his services. Jennifer was well liked by her fellow soldiers, her unit was very closely knit, she loved what she was doing and will be deeply missed by all of them. Chaplain Rusack held a service in her honor on the FOB on Friday the 8th and is currently counseling her friends and fellow soldiers. While we know that she was a believer in Yeshua, and we will see her again in glory, this does not negate our grief this side of our eternity and to her friends and family as well as her fellow soldiers, we wish to express our deepest condolences and know that we are praying for each and every one of you and ask that God comfort all of you in this most difficult of times.

Sincerely and Respectfully,

To the family and parents of Jennifer I want you to know that you are not alone in the grief you are feeling. I too know what you are going through and what you will go through in the coming weeks and months ahead. You will have many questions as to why? You will have many things to get ready or go through and that should be done in time. Sometimes it just can’t be faced and that’s ok, for you will know when the time is right for you. There is no right or wrong way to grieve it’s an individual journey that unfortunately we now have to take. I ask that God give the comfort, strength and courage that you are going to need. When and if the time is right for you please contact me. You can cry, vent, or just talk as only another person who has been where you are can really know what you are going through. May God continue to be with you and heal you.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Pfc. Jennifer L. Cole's passing. Even though I did not have the privilege of knowing Jennifer, I want to join her family and friends in grieving and in honoring her. We are so very proud of her and thankful for the ultimate sacrifice she made for the freedom of us all. I will not forget her and her heroism. I extend the deepest of sypmathies to her family and will be praying for you every day. When you think of her, rely on the wealth of wonderful memories she has left with you to comfort you. Close your eyes and see her, see her smile, feel her familiar touch, hear her voice and hear what she said. She has finished her course in this life and is now in that "better place" that God Himself has prepared for her where there is nothing that can harm her ever again, not even war, hatred or death. Only eternal love and the peace of God and joy is hers to look forward to from now on.

Jennifer, Thank you for your unselfishness that you have shown. It is your gift to this world and it will live on to benefit all as time moves forward here. I know God has some special rewards for you where you are. We look forward to joining you when our turn comes to leave this life behind. Now rest in peace, daughter of all Americans.

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Spc. Jennifer L. Cole our Sister in Arms. To her family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Jennifer. And to Jennifer it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank her for the ultimate sacrifice she made in Iraq while serving the U.S. Army and her country. No greater love is shown than a sister lay down her life for a comrade. Jennifer, you are a brave Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,409 members of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Jennifer’s family and loved ones.

It breaks my heart to find so little information here, but I understand that this close to date of incident it is sometimes too fresh for any information to be released. I did not know Pfc. Cole, but as a citizen of the US i would like to thank her personally for her service and sacrifice. Please accept my respects and deepest gratitude.
Thank you, Jennifer. Be at peace.
