February 15, 1936 – September 28, 2025
Jenny Mass-Ortiz 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. Born on February 15, 1936 in Ponce, Puerto Rico. Jenny was one of thirteen children and carried her Boricua roots with immense pride throughout her life. Before she was American, she was Puerto Rican and she always honored the island, its traditions and its spirit in everything she did.
Raised on her family's Coffee farm in Puerto Rico, Jenny learned the meaning of hard work and the strength of family bonds at a young age. Those lessons shaped her path guiding her as she built a life of resilience, compassion and unwavering dedication.
Jenny spent over 50 years in the garment district, a testament to her work ethic and determination. She was not only a wife and mother of two but also a guiding light to many. Helping, blessing and supporting countless people who crossed her path. To her family, she was the true matriarch, a source of wisdom, strength and unconditional love.
She is survived by her beloved daughter Amarilis Bostic Ortiz; her cherished grandchildren, Pedro L. Lopez and Christin Lopez; and her great-grandson, Adam L. Lopez son of Pedro Lopez. Jenny's legacy is one of pride in her Puerto Rican heritage, devotion to her family, and the countless lives she touched with kindness and generosity.
She will be remembered always as a proud Boricua, a devoted mother and grandmother and the heart of her family.

Con mucho dolor en el corazón, anunciamos el fallecimiento de Jenny Mass-Ortiz, quien partió en paz a sus 89 añ os, rodeada de su querida familia. Nació el 15 de Febrero de 1936 en Ponce, Puerto Rico, siendo una de trece hermanos, y desde siempre llevó su orgullo boricua en lo má s profundo de su ser. Antes de ser americana, ella era puertorriqueñ a, y lo vivi a con dignidad, alegri a y amor por su isla.
Jenny se crió en una finca en Puerto Rico, donde aprendió temprano el valor del trabajo duro, el respeto, y la importancia de la familia. Esos valores fueron la base de su vida y los compartió con todo el que la rodeaba.
Trabajó má s de 50 añ os en el distrito de la confección, demostrando siempre su fuerza y dedicació n. Pero má s allá de su trabajo, Jenny fue madre, abuela y bisabuela ejemplar la verdadera matriarca de su familia. Con su cariñ o y su mano irme, ayudó, bendijo y levantó a muchas personas a lo largo de su camino.
Le sobreviven su amada hija, Amarilis Bostic Ortiz; sus nietos, Pedro López y Christin Ló pez; y su bisnieto, Adam López, hijo de Pedro. Todos llevan en su corazó n el legado de orgullo, amor y fe que Jenny sembró en vida.
Jenny siempre será recordada como una boricua de pura cepa, una madre y abuela dedicada, y el alma de su familia.
Visitation for Jenny Mass Ortiz will be Sunday October 5, 2025 2pm - 8pm. Interment will be at Cypress Hills Cemetery.
