Jerald "Jerry" David Hostetter, 71, of Burnet, Texas passed away peacefully at home on June 24, 2024.
Jerry was born on May 16, 1953 in San Diego, California to James (Jim) Daniel Hostetter and Irene Catherine Schultz Hostetter. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Steven Carson.
In California he was active in boy scouts and baseball, but his favorite time was spent at the ocean. He moved to Dallas, Texas in high school where he played football and graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1971. Throughout his career he worked in both commercial and residential building, which led to living multiple locations throughout the US. Some of his best memories were from living in his beloved mountains in both Dillon, Colorado and Jackson Hole, Wyoming. He eventually returned to Dallas, where he met his wife Ronda at a scuba diving class. They married in 1986 and settled in Plano, Texas to raise two daughters. Ultimately, they moved to the Hill Country and created a beautiful life in Burnet, Texas where he was the owner of Pride Construction.
Jerry lived a life filled with acts of kindness directed toward everyone he met from family, friends and community. He was a gentle soul who was always willing to lend a helping hand to others. His passion for classic rock was well known, and he loved spending time watching college and professional football. However, visits with family and friends or get aways to the beach where his favorite ways to spend his time.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Ronda; daughters, Kimberly Sylvan (Joby) of Charlotte, North Carolina and Jennifer Smith-King (Jace) of Liberty Hill, Texas; granddaughter, Sloan Sylvan of Nashville, Tennessee; grandson, Will Sylvan of Tallahassee, FL; brother Thom Hostetter (Anne) of Alpharetta, Georgia, and sister Catherine Lynch (Gregg) of Spindale, North Carolina; brother and sister-in-law, Randall and Lisa Reinhardt of Kingsland, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Scott and Ginger Griffin of Katy, Texas. In addition, he had numerous nieces and nephews including Ethan Reinhardt (Stephanie); Hailey Reinhardt; Melissa Hurt (Owen); Jeff Griffin (Micah); Jamie Clancy (Ryan); Lauren Biddle; along with many great nephews and nieces.
A Celebration of Life is to be held in the Fall.
