Mr. Jerel Ray Medlin, 79, of Lavonia Hwy, Hartwell, passed away Friday, July 11, 2024 at the Callie & John Rainey Hospice House, Anderson SC.
Born on October 2, 1945 in Monroe NC, he was the son of the late Thomas C. Medlin and Mary Schenck Medlin. Mr. Medlin was retired from BASF of Anderson, a Mason and a member of the Cross Roads Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons: Thomas M. Medlin of Hartwell GA and Jeffery Medlin (Elisabeth) of Summerville SC; a daughter: Katherine Shaw (Justin) of Canon GA; two grandchildren: Mason Medlin (Kalie) of Royston GA and Emilee Shaw of Canon GA; three great-grandchildren: Rilynn, Brooklyn and Ryder Medlin; two sisters: Patsy Little of Concord NC and Doris Kiker of Kannapolis NC and four nephews also survive.
Mr. Medlin was preceded in death by his parents and a brother: Thomas S. Medlin.
Mr. Medlin wished to be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date by the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hart County Humane Society, PO Box 1062, Hartwell GA 30643 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis TN, 38105.
The Strickland Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Hartwell is in charge of all arrangements.
