Jeremy Dylan Jarvis

Jeremy Dylan Jarvis, 50, of Haiku spun their final tune on February 11, 2026 thanks to Hawaii's Death With Dignity Laws. They were celebrated fiercely by their community who came out in the hundreds during the days leading up to their passing. A true DJ until the end, Carol King's "You've got a friend" filled the room when they took their last breath. At the time of their ascent, 5:21pm, a spectacular rainbow spanned the sky for all to see, including many of their community who had gathered across the island to hold space and honor them. They are survived by their mother, Karen Jeffery and siblings Peter Gans, Julie Peters and Felicia Jarvis. They are also survived by their daughter Chloe, as well as their nephews Ikaika Cecil and Kealii Cecil. Music was Jeremy's life! They hosted 2 radio shows on Maul's own Mana'o Radio: Best Day Ever & the Minority Report. For years they had also been curating and sharing a weekly playlist that showcased their eclectic taste in tunes. Their final musical gift was a seven hour playlist, a treasure to grieve with and remember them for years to come. A true visionary: they devoted their life to many social justice causes including protests for animal rights, black lives matter, Palestine, Guantanamo Bay, trans rights, women's rights and many, many more. As a staunch animal rights activist Jeremy promoted veganism and strongly encouraged others to do the same. They co-founded Maui Food Not Bombs, Maui For Palestine, Fanning the Flames Portland, and were active in community outreach. With over 22 years of sobriety, Jeremy was in active recovery and had constant dedication to helping new people find sobriety up until their final day. It would be hard to find someone on-island that hasn't been touched by Jeremy in some way. Jeremy exuded love, support, and empathy to all those who they met; inspiring people to do better for one another Jeremy believed in a better world and worked to make it a reality. Their love and light will continue to shine through the many people they have touched. As Jeremy's last social media post said, quoting the Dalai Lama, "Between birth and death lies a tiny window called life. Use it wisely: be happy, lift others up, ease the weight on others, and live each moment fully before it slips away." Jeremy did their best to live as close to that wisdom as possible. A true legend. Jeremy will be deeply missed. There will be a celebration of life in the coming year to party on down. Details are TBD but be assured-dancing shoes will be required!
